An Honest Update: Heart Rhythms and Rain
I wanted to give a quick update on where things stand with my AFib. To be blunt about it: the ablation surgery I had wasn’t successful.
It’s a huge disappointment. I went into that procedure with one clear goal in mind—to get off the medication for good. Realizing now that I’ll most likely be on these meds for the rest of my life is a hard one to swallow. It wasn't the plan, and it’s definitely not the outcome I was hoping for when I decided to go through with the surgery.
However, there is some genuinely good news to share.
After a lot of back-and-forth, we finally got my medication adjusted over the last few months. The result is that I am finally symptom-free. No flutters, no issues. While I’m not thrilled about the "lifelong" aspect of the meds, feeling normal again is a massive relief that I’m not taking for granted.
The Plan Forward
Now that things have stabilized, my goal is to be back in the saddle three times a week.
I actually haven’t been able to get a ride in for the last 4 or 5 days because of the weather (rain!!!!), but I’m certainly not complaining. We’ve been in such a bad drought here in Central Texas that I’ll gladly trade a few days of riding for this rain. We desperately need it, and it’s a great thing to see.
The "fixed" heart I wanted didn't happen, but a steady heart that lets me get back to my routine is a win in its own right.
See you out there (once it dries out).
